An officer who shot a man in the foot in early 2017 won’t face charges, according to a report released Thursday by Clark County prosecutors. North Las Vegas Sgt. Michael Booker accidentally shot once Jan. 3, 2017, while attempting to turn on a flashlight mounted on his gun, prosecutors wrote in the report. They determined Booker didn’t commit a crime because the shooting appeared to be accidental
A man was in critical condition and a woman was injured after a rollover crash near Mt. Charleston. Authorities responded just after 5 p.m. to a Toyota that rolled over on State Route 156, ejecting the male driver. He was airlifted to University Medical Center in critical condition, Trooper Smaka said. The vehicle was driving eastbound toward U.S. 95.

A tour bus carrying no passengers crashed into an east-valley bus stop Thursday night, hitting and killing a woman, Las Vegas police said. The bus was heading east on Desert Inn Road when it left the road about 8:05 p.m. and hit a bus stop east of the road’s intersection with Eastern Avenue, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ken Romane said. The bus hit a woman at the stop.
Firefighters doused a fire inside of an under-construction Strip property Thursday night, firefighters said. Crews found heavy smoke coming from the sixth floor of an office space inside of The Drew Las Vegas, according to the Clark County Fire Department. They found building materials in the space had caught fire.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after North Las Vegas police said she carried a pickax onto a school campus and threatened children while they were at lunch. Frankie Allen Peraza, 39, was convicted last year on one count of receipt of child pornography, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. A man who brought a stolen handgun to a self-help meeting and then pointed the gun at officers last year was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison. Marcus Richard Thomas, 36, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to a count of possessing a stolen firearm. He brought a stolen 9 mm Glock handgun to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting March 31 and pointed it a Metropolitan Police Department officer, according to a plea agreement cited by the Department of Justice.
