A Las Vegas man was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison Thursday after he was found guilty of receiving child pornography. Frankie Allen Peraza, 39, was convicted last year on one count of receipt of child pornography, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The department said an investigation launched by the FBI and the Metropolitan Police Department found Peraza had downloaded more than 100 photos and 100 videos of child pornography through a peer-to-peer file sharing program.

A man who brought a stolen handgun to a self-help meeting and then pointed the gun at officers last year was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison. Marcus Richard Thomas, 36, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to a count of possessing a stolen firearm. He brought a stolen 9 mm Glock handgun to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting March 31 and pointed it a Metropolitan Police Department officer, according to a plea agreement cited by the Department of Justice.

Las Vegas police are asking for the public’s help in solving a deadly December shooting in the east valley. Officers are interested in speaking to anybody with knowledge of who last spoke with Angel Gutierrez, 37, before he was shot about 7:50 p.m. Dec. 1 on the 4000 block of East Bonanza Road, near Lamb Boulevard.

Authorities say a British tourist hospitalized in Las Vegas after a sightseeing helicopter crashed in the Grand Canyon earlier this month has died. Three other Britons were killed in the crash. Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg confirmed in a statement that 31-year-old Neil Udall died Thursday at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada.

Las Vegas police arrested a man who allegedly shot a security guard in December after a scuffle outside a Fremont Street nightclub. Jerome Smith, 43, was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting. According to Smith’s arrest report, police believe he was the man who opened fire on the guard.

A woman accused of robbing the South Point Casino at gunpoint and escaping in a getaway car was arrested, according to Metro Police. The woman, whose name was not released, was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and the car was located, as well.

Las Vegas police arrested a man in connection with a motorcycle race that turned deadly last summer, according to court documents. Witnesses watched Erwin Velarde Deleon, 39, and Brian Christopher Stoddard, 33, race their Suzuki motorcycles about 11:20 p.m. June 13 on eastbound Sahara Avenue from South Jones Boulevard, a Metropolitan Police Department arrest warrant shows.

At about 11 p.m. Las Vegas police received a 911 call from a home in the 800 block of Patagonia Ridge Avenue, near Cactus Avenue and Maryland Parkway.

Police detained one person after a shooting in the east Las Vegas Valley on Saturday. Witnesses reported a shooting near Stewart Avenue and Riata Way about 4 p.m. Lt. Patricia Cervantes of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said one person shot at another and the suspect was detailed by officers. Original reports said there were two shooters.

Las Vegas police are looking for a man involved in a December robbery in the east valley. The suspect entered a business on the 2300 block of Tropicana Avenue, near Eastern Avenue, on Dec. 30 about 7:39 p.m., police said in a press release. The suspect demanded money from an employee and when the employee refused, the suspect reached into his waistband, possibly for a weapon.

Police have blocked off a neighborhood on Washington and Comstock while they try to capture this bull.

A man in his 30s was shot and killed on the 200 block of West New York Avenue, near the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, according to Metro Police. Police said it happened at or near the apartments there, and was reported at 7:50 p.m. The man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, and neighbors reported seven or eight shots fired.

A motorcyclist is dead after the bike he was riding and a Honda Civic collided Monday night in west Las Vegas. The crash was reported at 7:37 p.m. and occurred on Spring Mountain Road at Spring Shower Driver, Metro said in a news release. A 36-year-old man from Mount Airy, North Carolina, was heading west on Spring Mountain on a 2006 Harley-Davidson when a 2017 Honda Civic heading east turned left into the path of the motorcycle, according to Metro.
